Study Abroad Billing

The Rice Study Abroad Office requires a Study Abroad Application Fee of $100.  The Rice study abroad application fee is deducted from the Student Account by the Rice Cashier's Office. Please note: Application fees and deposits to individual programs and institutions may vary, and are paid directly to the program/institutions. Consult your host university or affiliate provider for further information. 

All study abroad participants are charged the Rice Enrollment Continuation Fee of $396 for Fall and Spring semesters abroad and $198 for the Summer term abroad. In addition, a Student Activities Fee of $56.50 per semester abroad will also be included. All fees are deducted from the Student Account by the Cashier's Office. For inquiries regarding student accounts, please contact the Cashier's Office at cashier@rice.edu.

Students studying on a Rice reciprocal exchange will pay Rice tuition, just as they would if they were studying on campus for the term, and will be billed accordingly. All other fees will be paid directly to the host university. Students studying on direct enroll and affiliate programs will pay no tuition to Rice but will pay the provider for tuition and all fees. Please consult specific program providers/host institutions for billing details.
