Further International Opportunities

Are you considering going abroad again? There are many opportunities for Rice students both through Rice offices and departments, and through external organizaitons.

The Center for Civic Leadership
Besides offering valuable undergraduate research experiences and student mentoring relationships with Rice faculty, and/or local, national, and international scholars and professionals, the Center for Civic Leadership serves as a campus-wide clearinghouse for prestigious awards and research opportunities available both on and off campus. The office functions as a consolidated reference for students seeking domestic and/or international study and research experiences. International opportunities include prestigious fellowships such as the Marshall, Mitchell, Rhodes, Fulbright, Luce, and Watson, just to name a few.

Departmental International Opportunities
Individual departments sponsor international programs such as Beyond Traditional Borders, Engineers Without Borders, NANO Japan, or opportunities at The James A. Baker III Institute for Public Policy.

The Center for Career Development
The Center for Career Development is also a valuable resource for future international career opportunities, as well as advice for talking about your international experience on resumes or during interviews.

Graduate Schools/Professional Schools Abroad
Often students who have studied abroad as an undergraduate may also want to pursue graduate school abroad. Internationally-focused graduate opportunities can be found through resources such as:

Volunteer/Intern/Work Abroad
Although Rice Study Abroad does not administer or advise for outside volunteer or work abroad opportunities or endorse any particular programs or organizations, there are numerous international opportunities available outside of Rice-sponsored activities. Students may choose to volunteer, intern, teach, or work abroad over the summer or after graduation. Please note: Rice Study Abroad recommends that students carefully evaluate and vet any program offering volunteer, work or teach abroad experiences to assure a safe and high quality experience.
