As part of the Rice Study Abroad application process, students are required to obtain one or two recommendations from Rice University faculty members. These recommendations are a key component in the selection of study abroad participants.
The online Letter of Recommendation form contains a section for the student to choose whether or not to waive inspection rights, as well as suggestive guidelines for the Recommender.
Completed recommendation letters are submitted online through the Rice Study Abroad application.
Programs run by our approved partners (Exchanges, Direct Enroll and Affiliate Programs) may require additional written or online recommendations.
Please note: Often programs have strict deadlines for application submissions, including the faculty recommendation component. Students are advised to request recommendations early so recommenders have appropriate time for completion.
The Study Abroad Office appreciates faculty time and effort in preparing recommendations and supporting study abroad at Rice University, and is available for any questions throughout the application and recommendation process.
