What is the Study Abroad Ambassador Program?

Rice Study Abroad selects a group of study abroad alumni each year to serve as ambassadors. These students serve as liaisons between the Rice Study Abroad and the undergraduate student body by answering questions from peers interested in studying abroad, organizing and participating in study abroad programming throughout the year, and engaging with exchange students at Rice. They are energetic, knowledgeable, and helpful resources for the Rice community.

What do Study Abroad Ambassadors do?

Study Abroad Ambassadors:

  • Act as representatives of the Rice Study Abroad Office for the Rice community
  • Answer questions from students interested in study abroad
  • Develop, promote, and participate in study abroad events like information sessions
  • Welcome exchange students and facilitate their transition to Rice and Houston
  • Advise study abroad participants academically alongside PAAs

How can I contact a Study Abroad Ambassador?

If you are considering studying abroad, you can contact a Study Abroad Ambassador in your college or major directly, attend an information session, or stop by the Study Abroad Office during the Executive Ambassador's open office hours (check our events calendar on the homepage for details).

How do I apply to become a Study Abroad Ambassador?

The application, interview and selection process takes place in the spring semester each year. Any student who has studied abroad on a Rice-approved program, is in good academic and judicial standing, and has a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 is eligible to apply. Please contact the Study Abroad Office for further details.
